As announced on this morning on WWE’s program “The Bump“, NXT General Manager William Regal has announced that the brand will host a tournament to determine a new interim NXT Cruiserweight Champ, as current titleholder Jordan Devlin is in the U.K. and is unable to defend his title due to current travel restrictions.
Devlin has been NXT Cruiserweight Champion since winning the title in late January, when he defeated Travis Banks, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, and Angel Garza in a Fatal-Four-Way match at the WorldsCollide event in Houston, Texas.
The NXT GM would go on to say that an official bracket with competitors is currently in the works and will be released sometime in the coming days via WWE’s website and Social Media channels. His and WWE’s hope is that once travel abroad becomes less restrictive, a unification match could take place at a later date.
Regal also commented on a developing situation regarding the NXT Tag Team Champions, as one half of the BruiserBros Pete Dunne, is in a similar situation. A final decision on that will also becoming out in the upcoming days as well.
