As first reported by Sports Illustrated, WWE has named Paul Heyman as Executive Director of Monday Night RAW and Eric Bischoff as Executive Director of SmackDown Live. It’s believed that these positions will not translate to on-screen roles.
Both men are institutions not only in WWE, but in promotions throughout the world. Their names are synonymous with the Professional Wrestling industry.
WWE described these roles further in a press release on their website:
In their executive roles, Heyman and Bischoff will oversee the creative development of WWE’s flagship programming and ensure integration across all platforms and lines of business. The creation of these roles further establishes WWE’s ability to continuously reinvent its global brand while providing two distinct creative processes for its flagship shows. (WWE)
It seems as though WWE is making proactive changes to step up its creative process, something that fans have been very vocal about in recent years. Additionally, it was a talking point for recent WWE defector Jon Moxley – FKA Dean Ambrose – during his now famous interview with Chris Jericho on the “Talk is Jericho” podcast, in which he described the topsy-turvy booking and creative process at WWE.
We will provide more information on this development as it comes! Be sure to stay tuned to the Game Changer Sports Network for ALL of your pro-wrestling news!
