Well, 2020 just keeps on getting better and better. It’s been reported by Dave Meltzer that WWE and Mauro Ranallo are parting ways. There are little to no details about the split out there yet, but GCSN will have more information as soon as it’s made available.
Ranallo began his career in WWE in 2015, becoming the play-by-play commentator for SmackDown’s first show on the USA Network. In 2017, Mauro was absent from commentary for SmackDown and WrestleMania 33. WWE had originally reported it was due to travel issues, but it was later found out that Mauro had been bullied by fellow commentary partner John Bradshaw Layfield. In April of 2017, Mauro and WWE mutually agreed to part ways, and Ranallo said his departure had “nothing to do with JBL”.
Less than 2 months after his departure, Ranallo returned to WWE, this time becoming the lead commentator for NXT. Ranallo has since became the voice of NXT, giving us fans many memorable moments of him behind the desk going crazy with certain spots just like the fans. His pop culture references, and distinguishable made NXT feel like a family, and I for one am very sad to see him go.
