WR Kenny Golladay Is Heading To The New York Giants

The New York Giants are landing the top offensive market in the 2021 NFL free agent class. WR Kenny Golladay is signing with New York on a 4-year, $72 million contract. Golladay took his sweet time in free agency this year and it looks like it paid off for him. The deal could reach up to $76 million with $40 million guaranteed.

Earlier Thursday he met with Matt Nagy and the rest of the Chicago Bears brass before heading to New York for a meeting Thursday night. The Bears are a rival to his former team the Detroit Lions who in no way, shape, or form made a run at trying to keep him in town. The newest New York Giants receiver stated in the off-season, “They drafted me here, so I just want to show my loyalty. They believed in me. If a contract with the Lions doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out, you know. Then I go somewhere else and just ball out and play.”

Golladay now becomes the Giants number one receiver and QB Daniel Jones’ favorite target heading the season. In three seasons with the Detroit Lions, Golladay improved each and every season after he was drafted in the third round in 2017. Over time, Golladay become the undisputed number one receiver for Matthew Stafford in Detroit. The Northern Illinois star had his best season in 2019, where he found himself in the Pro Bowl. He hauled in 65 catches, for 1,190 yards and 11 touchdowns during the 2019 season. 2020 looked to be another stellar year for Golladay, but a hip injury forced him to miss a majority of the 2020 season.

Giants Have Made a Splash In Free Agency

The Giants have been making waves in free agency so far, and the addition of Golladay is no different. On the offensive side of the ball, Daniel Jones will see many additional weapons at his disposal. Devontae Booker was added to the backfield to make a exciting duo with Saquon Barkley. 25-year old speedy receiver John Ross was also signed, but injuries have limited his production so far in his career. With the signing of TE Kyle Rudolph, the Giants now have one of the best 1-2 punches with tight ends. Rudolph will be paired alongside Evan Engram.
