Winnipeg Shooting For Stanley Cup?

Winnipeg Shooting For Stanley Cup?

After winning their first playoff series last year, Winnipeg was able to fight their way into the Western Conference Finals where they fell short to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Coming into this season the Jets are looking like once again a Stanley Cup contender.

Winnipeg’s roster stayed pretty much intact except for Stastny signing with Vegas.

Up front Winnipeg has Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, Nikolaj Ehlers, Bryan Little, and young super star Patrik Laine.

This team even has talent deep; Mathieu Perreault, Adam Lowry, Brandon Tanev, and Andrew Copp.

On Defense, Dustin Byfuglien sets the tone followed by Jacob Trouba, Tyler Myers, Josh Morrissey, Joe Morrow, Ben Chiarot, Dimitry Kulikov, and Tucker Poolman.

In net Vezina Trophy Finalist Connor Hellebuyck will look to win Winnipeg the Central Division, and out perform inner division foe Pekka Rinne.

Winnipeg is in a position to go on a deep playoff run this season, especially if they can record another league best home record, and get the city of Winnipeg to follow them like they did last season.

Once this team is in the playoffs, anything is possible.

Moving forward, Patrik Laine and Kyle Connor are in their last year of their rookie contracts, and will both be looking for a considerable extension.

Scheifele, Ehlers, Wheeler, and Little are all signed through the 2023-24 season.

Add to the mix Lowry, and Perreault being signed through the 2020-21 season, and if Winnipeg can keep Laine, and Connor this Jets offense is staying intact for at least the next few seasons.

However, the Jets will need to deal with Trouba, Myers, Chiarot, and Morrow out back as they are all in their last seasons of their contracts.

Dustin Byfuglien has three seasons left on his contract however which is good.

Even better, elite goalie Connor Hellebuyck is signed through the 2023-24 season.

Winnipeg will have several contracts to discuss throughout this season, and entering next off season, but if management can make efficient moves then the city of Winnipeg will be looking at several runs at the Stanley Cup.
