Washington Capitals Set to Win 2019 Stanley Cup?

It is not very often that the team who won the Stanley Cup last season is the same team that wins the Stanley Cup this season.

However, with the signing of Tom Wilson’s six year contract extension, the Washington Capitals have now officially kept their roster exactly intact except for a few minor depth players.

Many often argue that the hardest Stanley Cup to win is the first one.

So with their roster staying the same except for a different fourth line Center and back-up Goalie, and the confidence gained having won a Stanley Cup, it isn’t too crazy to say that the Capitals have a great shot at defending their title.

The biggest question heading into this season for Washington is not about players, but about the coaching.

With Barry Trotz resigning and then being hired by the Islanders, Washington has to be wondering how new Head Coach Todd Reirden will do with this talented and deep Capitals team.

However, it will not be an easy road for any team to win a Stanley Cup these days, with Tampa Bay, Toronto, Boston and Pittsburgh in the East, along with Nashville, Vegas, Winnipeg, and several other contenders in the West.
