Canucks forward Jake Virtanen is currently having a career year, with 23 points in 40 games so far. While that may not be impressive to most, to any Canucks fan who has been following Virtanen since he entered the league, this is exciting stuff. Jake is only two points from his career high of 25, set last year when he compiled twelve goals and thirteen assists in seventy games. He’s only played 40 so far, and is one good performance from setting his new high. Many times criticized for his poor play and lack of work ethic, Jake is silencing those with his new found energy. Getting sent down to the AHL to start the season was a wakeup call for Virtanen, and when he returned to the Canucks lineup, he made the most of his opportunity and looked like a completely different player. Virtanen, a first round selection back in 2015, has floated in and out of the lineup over his first 5 seasons, spending most of his time on the bottom two units. If 2020 is as good as 2019 was to Virtanen, then Canucks fans are in for a real treat.
