Dalvin Cook Runs Over the Texans, Vikings Win 31-23

Dalvin Cook’s 130 rushing yards was more than the Texans’ rushing total and more than they could handle.  Cook scored 2 touchdowns as the Vikings consistently attacked on the ground.  The Vikings handed the offense to Cook and he delivered.  Cook now has consecutive games with over 100 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns on the season.

Kirk Cousins did not throw any interceptions and overall seemed to be playing it safe.  Justin Jefferson followed up his break out game from last week with 103 receiving yards.  The Vikings handed the ball off to Cook 27 times, which was more than Cousins’ passing attempts, against the Texans’ poor run defense.  Whether by design or not, the Vikings are a better team when running the ball.

Deshaun Watson and the Texans lose their 4th game in a row and are exposing more and more of their flaws on the field.  Will Fuller V was Watson’s more reliable and productive target breaking the 100 receiving yards mark and scoring a touchdown.  Fuller has been the Texans most reliable target but overall, the Texans don’t have enough offensive power.  Defensively, the Texans have now allowed at least 31 points in 3 out of their first 4 games.

The Vikings 1st win keeps their goal of making the playoff alive, for now.  Going into week 4, the Bears and Packers lead the NFC north with an undefeated record.  In theory, the Vikings are a good team that had a rough start to the season.  The Vikings should celebrate this win as they go face the undefeated Seahawks next week.

The same came not be said of the Texans right now.  Hope is still there, but the window is closing rapidly.  The Texans need to start addressing the root of the problems or start thinking about next season.  The Texans will be playing the Jaguars, who are on a 3 game losing streak.
