In a video released by TMZ, Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt can be seen pushing and kicking a woman after an argument took place outside a hotel room. The incident occurred after Hunt and the woman had a heated exchange. The two were initially separated by several people, but it was shortly followed by Hunt pushing the woman who then hit him in response.
More people arrived to separate them, but Hunt appears to push one of the men between the two who then collides with the woman, knocking her out of frame.
Police arrived on the scene, yet no arrests were made and as of now, there have been no charges due to the fact the police were unable to determine if a crime had actually been committed.
There are conflicting reports as to why the incident between the two occurred. The woman involved claims she refused sexual advances from one of the men with Hunt while some of Hunt’s people claim she used the N-word when asked to leave the hotel room.
Kareem Hunt released a statement in August detailing the incident from February and another incident in which he reportedly punched another man. He mentions he learned from the two events and would focus on football going forward.
Chiefs owner Clark Hunt released a statement around the same time saying “I’m sure he learned some lessons this offseason and hopefully won’t be in those kinds of situations in the future.”
While reports of the incident were released in February, shortly after it happened, the NFL chose not to discipline Hunt at the time. However, this is the first time a video has been released so that the public can gain a clear understanding of what happened.
The Chiefs organization opted to send Kareem Hunt home after the video was released. In a corresponding move, the NFL placed Hunt on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, effectively banning him from practice and playing for the time being.
Further updates to come as they roll in.
