Leading up to the 2021 NHL Draft, there was trade talks between the Arizona Coyotes and Oliver Ekman-Larson, and Conor Garland. With hours before the draft, Arizona pulled the trigger on both players. On Friday, according to David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period and Piere LeBrun of TSN, Arizona traded Oliver Ekman Larsson and Conor Garland to the Vancouver Canucks for Loui Eriksson, Antonie Roussell, and the 9th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft.
Along with trading Larsson to Vancouver, Arizona will be paying $1.2 million of his salary for the rest of his contract. Garland is a restricted free agent, and Larsson has 6 years left on his contract at $8.25 million a year.
Before trading with Vancouver and acquiring the 9th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, Arizona did not have a 1st round pick in the 2021 Draft after violating the NHL’s combine testing policy during the 2019-20 Season.
