Tua Tagovailoa Out For the Year

As reported by The Athletic, star Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa’s season has ended due to a hip injury he suffered Saturday against Mississippi State.

The injury is reportedly a dislocated hip with a posterior wall fracture. Tua is set to undergo surgery either Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Tagovailoa was a game time decision this Saturday but ended up starting the game. He was tackled while scrambling outside of the pocket. Tua was unable to put pressure on his right leg, leading to him having to be carted off the field.

Bleacher Report

Jim Nagy, the Reese’s Senior Bowl Executive Director was told that the injury was “similar” to the injury that Bo Jackson suffered in 1991. The same injury that resulted in Jackson’s NFL career to be cut short.

“He hurt his hip and I don’t know anything else more than that,” Alabama coach Nick Sagan said. “We were going to do two-minute before the half for practice and we’ve got to block them better so he doesn’t get sacked. Too bad.”
