After a short stint with the Cincinnati Reds, which lasted the 2020 season and half of the 2019 season, Bauer is heading home. On Friday, Trevor Bauer signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The deal is for 3 Years worth $102 Million. Bauer will get $40 Million in 2021 and $45 Million in 2022. Before playing for Cincinnati, Bauer played for the Cleveland Indians from 2013-2019.
In 11 starts last season, Bauer had a record of 5-4, 1.73 ERA, 100 strikeouts in 73.0 innings. After having a 6.39 ERA in 10 starts with Cincinnati during the 2019 season, the worst ERA of his career Bauer bounced back with the best ERA of his entire career with a 1.73 ERA in a shortened 2020 season. Bauer’s production in 2020 landed him the National League Cy Young Award.
With Bauer heading to Los Angeles, he will join a rotation that includes Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, and David Price. According to Jon Morosi, the New York Mets made a hard push to sign Bauer before he signed with Los Angeles offering him more money than what Los Angeles was offering him.
