Top 5 Superstars (NXT Women)

Top 5 Superstars (NXT Women)

It’s an argument that I have with a lot of different wrestling fans. Who is the best wrestler in the company? Is this wrestler better than this wrestler? Everybody has their favorites, and who they think is the best in the WWE. So, something I will be doing here on Game Changer Sports Network, is listing who I believe are the top 5 men and women in both NXT and the “Main Roster”.

I will be taking into account their wrestling ability, combined with their promo work. I will also only be judging them based on what they’ve done on the brand they are currently on. So in reality, Aleister Black is in the top 5 for best wrestler on the main roster, but he hasn’t been around long enough to show what he can do on the main roster, therefore he’s not on this list.

NXT has produced some of the best wrestlers in the world, be it male or female. Big names like the Four Horsewoman; Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley. Japanese products like Asuka and Kairi Sane, plus many many more.

A list of the best women in NXT history will eventually come, but right now we are only looking at women in NXT currently. Without any further ado, here is my list for the top 5 Women wrestlers in NXT!

5. Mia Yim

May be surprising to some, but I enjoy Mia Yim….a lot. I think she has a different look that is definitely needed in the WWE women’s division. She is a former IMPACT Knockouts Champion and competed in the inaugural Mae Young Classic.

She wouldn’t join NXT that year, but would return to the Mae Young Classic in 2018 and would win over the WWE fans. She has just finished a feud with Bianca Belair where she impressively beat Belair twice. The women’s division in NXT is full of wonderful talents, and I believe Yim has the chance to be one of the best females NXT has. Only time will tell.

4. Candice LeRae

Another Mae Young Classic competitor, Candice LeRae is quickly showing her worth to the NXT crowd. LeRae, who is the real life wife of former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano, signed with NXT in the beginning of 2018, and almost immediately was inserted into her husbands NXT Championship feud with Andrade “Cien” Almas.

LeRae would team up with Io Shirai in Shirai’s quest for the NXT Women’s Championship against Shayna Baszler. LeRae would help Shirai out in matches, until Io attacked LeRae after she interfered in the NXT Women’s Championship Steel Cage Match.

LeRae has everything needed to be a big star in NXT. A great looking baby face that people want to like, and who can cut a really good, passionate promo. She did well on the indies, and continues to do well in NXT.

3. Io Shirai

I have to be honest, I wasn’t really sold on Io Shirai when she first came to NXT. Everybody said she had something very special, but I just hadn’t seen it. I was wrong. I was so wrong. Io Shirai is incredible. She has an incredible move set and has the intensity that is needed in the WWE Women’s divison.

Shirai’s work in Stardom was incredible, which is precisely why she was selected to be in the Mae Young Classic, making her way to the finals only to lose to Toni Storm. Io has since turned heel, and in an incredible way by attacking her former friend Candice LeRae. Io is showing her impressive talents, making her claim to be the best woman in the NXT roster.

2. Bianca Belair

The EST of NXT is phenomenal. It’s kind of a crazy story how she got her start in the WWE. Her CrossFit career came to an early end and Belair decided to put her information into the WWE prospects database. Less than two weeks later, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry (who saw Beliar’s CrossFit) came across Beliar’s profile and told her he could get her a tryout.

Belair would have two tryouts before signing a contract with the WWE and she took of from there. Belair has impressive in ring work, but it’s her mic skill that puts her above those I just mentioned. She is quick and believable on that microphone and has me hanging on every word. Belair using her long, whip-like hair in her offense is definitely unique, and just the thing to set her aside from the rest of the pack.

1. Shayna Baszler

I may take some heat for this given the terrific names of women that have passed through NXT. I truly believe Shayna Baszler is not only the best woman in NXT now, but I believe she’s the best woman in NXT history. She is (as of writing this) the NXT Women’s Champion, a title she has won twice, the only woman in NXT history to do so.

Baszler has gone up against (and won) some of the best wrestlers NXT has to offer. Almost every time Baszler has put that title on the line, I think she’s going to lose it, then she wins, and wins, and wins. She has a look that no other woman in the WWE has, and her in ring work looks crisp and clean the way it should. Every time she cuts a promo, I feel its strong and believable. Plus, she has a killer entrance theme.

Do you agree with my list? Is there someone missing or someone who shouldn’t be here? Be sure to chime in with your opinion and check back for the 5 best men in NXT today!
