Three Takeaways From Yesterday

Three Takeaways From Yesterday

Saturday showcased some entertaining games, along with three things sticking out to me.

1. Buffalo Has Won Five Straight

With yesterday’s 3-2 win over the Wild, the Sabres have now won five straight games in a row.

Buffalo has been lead by Jack Eichel, Jeff Skinner, and Veteran Jason Pominville.

Eichel has 4 goals and 18 assists, Skinner has 14 goals and 7 assists, and Pominville has 9 goals and 8 assists.

With this win streak Buffalo now finds themselves third in the Atlantic Division, one point ahead of Boston.

Buffalo will travel to take on Pittsburgh Monday night at 7PM ET, in hopes of winning their sixth straight game.

2. New Jersey Has Problems

The New Jersey Devils lost to the Detroit Red Wings in overtime 3-2 yesterday.

The Devils are now seventh in the Metropolitan Division, and are 3-6-1 in the last ten games.

Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri lead the team in points with 19, and 20 respectively.

This team has the potential to be performing at a higher level, but if they continue to lose games they should be winning, their season will quickly slip away from them.

3. The Battle of Alberta Was Reborn

In a 4-2 Calgary win, the tension between the Flames and Oilers was incredible.

The Oilers totaled 41 penalty minutes, and the Flames totaled 15 penalty minutes.

Among those were two fighting majors, and three misconducts.

Add to it 39 total hits between the two teams, including several open ice hits.

With both teams this year having the potential, and desire to get themselves back to the Playoffs, The Battle of Alberta could continue to be active.
