The Right Mix – Breaking Down Yesterday’s NBA DFS Star-Studded Slate

The stars were aligned last night… at least a lot of them were on the hardwood anyways. With a plethora of talented all-stars, last night’s NBA slate was one that caused both excitement and frustration for daily DFS players. Master roster builders performed their best trying to get at least a few of these talents into one lineup – but it was tough. Salary caps on the major sites being stringent, many found it hard to pick between one player or another. And who can blame them? Taking LBJ might have meant you missed out on The Greek Freak (hope you didn’t!). Rostering those powerhouse SF’s last night could’ve meant you missed out on some stellar C and SG performances. Roster construction was crucial last night not only for cash lineups but GPP also. Come slate start time it was evident, if you didn’t have a good mix of high end and value plays, you were doomed!

GREEK FREAKSome of the bigger names came to play as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embid and Steph Curry all went for over 60 FPS. Giannis taking top honors(78.8FP/6.7x), helping the Bucks to a 123-108 victory over Philly. Other stellar performers included Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Lebron James and Jimmy Butler. All registering 50+ FPS. James Harden (injured), Kyle Lowry, Lamarcus Aldridge and Karl Anthony Towns rounded out the “midfield” of scores from above average players registering scores between 33 and 41 points. For all the big names opportunity was there. Some took advantage and some just gave a little bit better than average. Mixed in with these all-star efforts was a bounty of mid to low salary value players that exploded for some high scores.

The Studs

Value was the name of the game last night. As usual, having a perfectly constructed roster usually means you took some risk. And if you made the leap of faith with any of these players, you may have made some money last night! The “Lebron Whisperer” (Lance Stephenson) topped a list of value plays that did more than their part for the DFS community. Registering 47.6 FP, Stephenson hit a massive 12.1 times his salary last night. Helping to clear the way for the Lakers to pick up their first win. Other impressive value plays from last night included Deandre’ Bembre, Damyean Dotson, Cameron Payne, Damontas Sabonis and Nemanja Bjelica. Each player hitting between 8.6 and 11.7x. Notable performances form Carmelo Anthony, Rodney McGruder and Kent Bazemore helped seal the deal for some DFS players.

Value Explosion

The season is early, leaving a lot of question marks. Many players from across the slate showed they were back to full mid-season form as they exploded for some high scores. While some players remain missing in action, off to a slow start. Today’s slate features a 4 game offering with some lopsided match ups and real scoring potential.
