The NBA Off-Season Just Got More Interesting After The Finals

The NBA Finals are now done and over with. The Kawhi Leonard led Toronto Raptors defeated the Steph Curry led Golden State Warriors. The Warriors just couldn’t hang on for the three peat. This was large in due to the injuries they suffered throughout the series.

This series had the impending class of free agency written all over it. Three star players could be playing in new cities next year. Kevin Durant, who only played in a single game before tearing his Achilles. Klay Thompson, who tore us ACL in the final loss of the series.

Then we have the man that led Toronto to the NBA Championship. Kawhi Leonard is now set to become an NBA free agent. Where these three men end up is like playing Russian Roulette. You just never know where they could land.

The injuries to Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson will both likely keep them off the court for all of next season. Now a team has to knowingly sign them to a max deal and let them sit for a year under contract. This could take some teams out of the running that wanted results a little bit faster.

Of the two Klay Thompson will probably stay in Golden State after this injury. He is familiar with the system and this would just be another injury for him if he does stay. Reports are that Golden State will be offering him a five year max deal.

Durant is going to a max contract somewhere in the league. Rumors keep suggesting that it will be with the New York Knicks. The Knicks are bad enough to want to wait that one year for Durant to come back.

Reports are that Kyrie is prepared to sign with the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets and Knicks are both willing to sign Durant and Irving as a duo even with the Durant injury.

Leonard will hit free agency as a current finals MVP. His landing spot is more unknown than anyone else mentioned above. I would like to see him stay in Toronto. The Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers, and Knicks are all possible.
