Tacko Fall: A Hidden Gem

Tacko Fall: A Hidden Gem

The 7’5 undrafted center out of Central Florida became an instant fan favorite in Boston after signing a contract. The Celtics gave Fall an Exhibit 10 contract which states that a player can make the league minimum salary with the potential of bonuses throughout the year.  Fall may be one of the most interesting players to watch on the basketball court.  It is not very often we see a player with such an astronomical height.

After the Celtics underwent a busy off season, Danny Ainge decided to give Fall a chance.  Although his height will be of great use, many critics passed solely because he is still learning the fundamentals of the game.  The league has become fast paced, so players like Fall will have to increase stamina and decrease fatigue.

The question is: How will Fall fare in the NBA? Currently Fall is developing his charisma with the Maine Red Claws, the G-League team for the Celtics.  In his G-League debut, Fall had 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks.  It is fair to say “The Senegalese Dirk” has the potential to be a huge threat in the NBA.  Fall did make his debut with the Celtics against the Knicks in October.  With an almost hilarious stat line, Fall was able to average 48 points and 36 rebounds per 36 minutes.

The Celtics are 13-5 after dropping a loss in Brooklyn on Friday.  Although the team is still a top contender in the East, they are lacking a rebounding big man.  If Fall can develop quickly, he could be a key to their success this year.
