Stars of the Past Making Moves for the Present: Rob Van Dam and Jim Ross Get Signed

It is official: Rob Van Dam is returning to IMPACT Wrestling on a deal that may be up to a year.

Though some may criticize this deal because of RVD’s age, this is irrelevant. IMPACT needs star power bad. When building up a brand, you NEED star power. You can have the best wrestling in the world, but no one will notice unless you have a star or two that everyone knows to put eyes on the product.

Who better than RVD?

He won’t stay there long term but if he’s there to get a run with a title or two and put over the major homegrown stars of the company, what’s the harm in that? If anything, this is a step in the right direction as IMPACT continues to make strides in improving its product.

In other news, AEW has officially signed Jim Ross to a 3 year deal as a senior advisor. Though his status as a commentator is up in the air, just having J.R. on your team is good for business. This is another step in the right direction for an upstart company that seems to be making all the right moves in its early stages.

The wrestling world needs to take notice: IMPACT is making its return and AEW is looking to take over.
