Shaq Barrett re-signs with Tampa Bay to a four year, $72M deal that includes a $36M guarantee. The Tampa Bay edge rusher was widely considered the top free agent on the market this year. This comes after the Super Bowl LVI victory after acquiring Tom Brady in the last free agency period. Tampa Bay is looking to keep their entire championship team intact.
The Denver Broncos signed Barrett as an undrafted free agent in 2014 from Colorado State University. In the 2020 season, Barrett had 57 tackles, 8 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. In his 7 years, Barrett has 266 tackles, 41.5 sacks and 15 forced fumbles. Barrett has proven over his 7 years in the league that he deserves the money he is being paid.
Barrett spent the first five years of his career with the Denver Broncos. With the Broncos, Barrett took home his first Super Bowl win in 2016. Following the Super Bowl win, Barrett went on to play 2 additional seasons with the Broncos before signing a one year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2029. Now in 2021, Shaq Barrett re-signs with Tampa Bay following their Super Bowl win.
