Senators Sign Galchenyuk

The Ottawa Senators have signed unrestricted free agent Alex Galchenyuk to a 1-year, $1.05M contract.

In 59 games last season split between the Minnesota Wild and Pittsburgh Penguins, Galchenyuk recorded 8 goals and 16 assists.

The 26-year-old forward returns to Canada, after originally being drafted third overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2012. In 549 career games split between the Penguins, Wild, Canadiens, and Arizona Coyotes, Galchenyuk has 135 points and 320 points.

The signing of Galchenyuk adds to a busy off-season for the Senators, who have already signed multiple free agents including Matt Murray and Evgenii Dadonov. They also drafted highly-touted prospects Tim Stuetzle and Jake Sanderson third and fifth overall, respectively, in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
