Seattle Seahawks: 1st Round Running Back Injured

Rookie running back, Rashaad Penny, will be sidelined for approximately three to four weeks due to a broken finger. NFL Network Insider, Ian Rapoport, was informed that Penny will undergo surgery and may miss the season opener against the Denver Broncos.

Penny led the college football rushing leaderboard, accumulating a total of 2,248 rushing yards. He was the 27th pick in the first round, who the Seahawks traded down for with the Green Bay Packers. Analysts had projected Penny to drop to the second round, nonetheless, the Seahawks front office strongly believed in Rashaad Penny’s skill set and decided to select him late first round.

The Seattle Seahawks are begging for increased production in the ground game . Their lackluster rushing offense finished 23rd last season, only totalling 1,629 rushing yards. Penny was battling Chris Carson for the number one spot on the depth chart. For now Carson remains the starting RB with Mike Davis and CJ Prosise as backups. However, Seattle will hope Penny will return fully healthy in time to make an impact in Week 1.
