Russell Wilson has been the face of the Seahawks franchise for the better part of the last decade. He has made it clear that he loves Seattle and wants to remain there for his career. Seattle, on the other hand, has some decisions to make. Wilson has informed the ‘Hawks organization that he wants a new contract by April 15th. This would probably make RW3 the newest “highest paid player in NFL history”. Whether the Seahawks are willing to pay the man remains to be seen.
It’s hard to argue against Wilson wanting more money. His production has increased and improved each year and he is smack dab in the middle of his prime. With rumors earlier in the year about him and a potential trade to the Giants, its hard to believe the Seahawks will let Wilson go anywhere. This year’s draft is one of the first in many years that is not very QB heavy. Not only that, there aren’t many free agent QB’s you can plug into Seattle’s system and have it work as well as it does with Russell Wilson under center.
If I had to make a prediction, I say the Seahawks get a deal done with Wilson. I honestly believe it to be a no brainer at this point. If they trade him away there will be a riot in Seattle and the front office knows that. With a deal in the works for All-Pro LB Bobby Wagner as well, it makes perfect sense to have their two pillars on each side of the ball locked down for a long time. That’s why I am fully confident they’ll get a deal done with their star QB and he will remain a Seahawk for the forseeable future.
