Ronda Rousey to go into UFC Hall of Fame

Ronda Rousey will be the first woman to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, as a member of its “Modern Wing”. The announcement was made at the UFC 225 event, and she will be inducted on July 5th at Palms Casino Resort.

Rousey, who is currently signed with the WWE, is considered a pioneer in the UFC; being crowned the first-ever Women’s UFC Champion, and reigning as champ in the Bantamweight division from 2012-2015. She was a dominant force in the octagon, with fast hands and her signature armbar submission hold.

Rousey finished her career in the UFC with a 12-2 record, losing her first match to Holly Holm at UFC 193, and losing her last bout to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207. Since then, Rousey still holds the record for longest title reign of anyone in the Women’s Bantamweight division; and holds the record for 4 of the 5 fastest Women’s Bantamweight finishes in history.

UFC President Dana White made a point to congratulate and give praise to Rousey:

“There would be no women in UFC without Ronda Rousey,”…. “Ronda is an absolute pioneer who helped me — and a lot of other people — look at women in combat sports differently.”
