Rockets/Kings/Cavs Involved in 3-Team Trade

The trades are heating up! A new 3-team trade has been announced.

The Rockets are sending Brandon Knight, Marquese Chriss and a protected 1st round pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers are sending Alec Burks to the Sacramento Kings. The Kings are sending Imam Shumpert to the Rockets.

Houston will also receive Wade Baldwin and Nik Stauskas in the trade. The two were traded to Cleveland on Sunday as part of another trade.

Shumpert provides the 3-and-D wing the Rockets have been searching for all season. There were discussions that the Rockets were interested in Burks, but it appears the full story may not have been told there. It’s possible that Houston was more interested in a player who could play defense than shoot 3’s as well since Burks is a good 3-point shooter, but nothing special on the defensive end. The veteran guard Shumpert will look to help Houston out of their defensive slump that has hurt them this season.

Burks has been traded for a second time this season after going to Chicago from the Utah Jazz.

Interestingly enough, the Rockets will visit the Kings tonight so Shumpert will have a meet-and-greet with his new team.
