Quick, Fleury Turning Series into Battle of Goalies

The Vegas Golden Knights currently have a 2-0 series lead over the Los Angeles Kings after the first two playoff games in Vegas history.

A total of 4 goals have been scored between the two teams in the first two games.

In game one, Vegas won 1-0 as Marc-Andre Fleury recorded a shutout after facing 30 shots.

However Quick’s number were not far off, as he saved 27 of 28 shots, holding a .964 save percentage.

Game two went deep into the second overtime with both teams tied at 1-1, even though Los Angeles was without their star Defenseman Drew Doughty due to a one game suspension.

Vegas’ Erik Haula was able to score earning the Golden Knights a hard fought victory, and a 2-0 series lead over the Kings.

Out of both teams, the most impressive aspect of this series has been the goaltending.

Marc-Andre Fleury recorded another win, saving 29 of 30 shots, giving him a series save percentage of an incredible .983.

Even more impressive was Jonathan Quick as he stopped 54 of 56 shots, clearly keeping the game alive for the Kings several times.

This gives Quick a series save percentage of .964 after facing 84 shots in the first two games.

If these two elite goalies continue to perform at this level, every game has the potential to go into overtime, possibly double overtime as game two went over fifteen minutes into the second overtime last night.

Game three is set to be played Sunday night at 10:30 PM ET in Los Angeles as the Kings must take advantage of home ice to keep this series from being over quickly.
