Potential Game Changer: Dallas Cowboys

In this ongoing series here at the Game Changer Sports Network, we take a look at this upcoming season’s best candidate to have a breakout season and become a superstar.

In case you missed the teams we have covered already, you can click on their name here and it will take you directly to their article: Atlanta, Arizona, Baltimore, Buffalo, Carolina, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Cleveland.

The Dallas Cowboys have had a rather mediocre secondary for the better part of the last decade.  That could change this year if CB Jourdan Lewis can excel and break out.

He made his rookie debut in game two last season, and saw action in every game moving forward, even starting seven of those games. He looked rather impressive to start the season, and after slowly fading and out of rookie of the year conversations, he became an afterthought.

In 15 games, Lewis had 54 total tackles, 10 passes defended, and 1 interception. He played in 71.3% of snaps on defense, which was fourth most for the Cowboys defense. The coaching staff clearly sees the potential in this former third round pick.

His size and speed are issues. Those things can’t just be fixed.  Scouts typically had him playing a slot CB role coming out of college, but the Cowboys have since had other plans and have given him the reigns as their #2 cornerback.
