The New England Patriots have been extremely active in this free agency period. They have signed LB Matt Judon, DB Jalen Mills, TE’s Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry, and WR’s Nelson Aghalor and Kendrick Bourne among others. Now they are adding a former player of theirs. Linebacker Kyle Van Noy is returning home to the Patriots. After his release it was widely projected that he would end up back in New England.
Van Noy was on the Patriots for three full seasons before leaving to head to Brian Flores in Miami. He signed a four year deal with the Dolphins before getting cut after just one year. His cut made no sense given he had a year right on par with his career production average. That move had a lot of people scratching their heads and left wondering what could have happened.
Van Noy spent the first two years of his career with the Detroit Lions before being traded to the Patriots, The second round pick flourished in New England’s system. On his career, he has 358 tackles, 23.5 sacks, and 16 passes defended. He will make a nice addition to the new look New England front seven. The new look front seven could be one of the deadliest in the NFL next year with the return of Dont’a Hightower as well.
