The Maryland Terrapins almost shocked the world today by coming one play away from the upset of the year. Coming off a 9-1 record, the Buckeyes were hoping to win the remaining 2 games of the season. As the 9th ranked team in the nation, Urban Meyer’s team has put together a good resume for a possible bid into the playoffs.
Dwayne Haskins, the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes, once again proved why he is a Heisman candidate. The sophomore quarterback had another iconic performance throwing for 405 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Buckeyes defense had no answer for running back Anthony McFarland today, who rushed for 298 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Terrapins ended the first quarter with a 14-3 lead. Not too long after being down by 11, the Buckeyes started to put the ball in the end-zone. At the end of regulation, the upset was still in sight at a score of 45-45.
Going into overtime, the Buckeyes scored first with a touchdown run by Haskins. The Terrapins were able to bounce back and go down the field to score another touchdown. However, the Terrapins decided to go for the 2 point conversion to shock the world. The Buckeyes were able to squeeze out the win by stopping the throw into the end-zone.
Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes are now 10-1. All eyes will be on next weeks battle against Michigan, one of the biggest rivalries in college football.
