Odell Beckham Jr’s Top 5 Landing Spots

Odell Beckham Jr’s Top 5 Landing Spots

Odell Beckham Jr has pushed his way out of the Cleveland Browns and will now be a free agent. In a wild turn of events, the star WR fell out of favor with the QB Baker Mayfield and found himself on the wrong side of production for the team. Many teams will be calling for his services, but here are Odell Beckham Jr’s top 5 landing spots.

Late last week the Cleveland Browns and Odell Beckham Jr agreed to a new contract that will pay him a signing bonus of $7.25 million for the rest of this year and it voided the final two years of his current deal. He could not be processed on waivers until today. He will spend 24 hours on waivers before he hits free agency. This will make him a free agent at the end of the season. It is very unlikely that he will be claimed by any team off waivers.

Beckham Jr has already stated that we wants to go to a playoff contender. He will also cause issues for any team that tries to claim him off waivers. after the issues that arose in Cleveland, he wants to be in control of his own destiny for the rest of this season.

Right off the top we can take teams like the Detroit Lions (0-7) off the table. Odell doesn’t want to go there and they don’t have any reason to go after him. Dan Campbell didn’t really need to make a statement about it but he still did. One thing that we can definitely say is that he will have no shortage of suitors for his services.

Honorable Mentions in Odell Beckham Jr’s Top 5 Landing Spots: Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Las Vegas Raiders (5-3, 2nd in AFC West)

After a wild week for the Las Vegas they find themselves short a WR. Henry Ruggs III is on his way to a jail cell and has put the Raiders in a spot where they need to replace him mid-season. DeSean Jackson just signed with them but he’s only got so much left in his legs every time he hits the field.

This would rely on Beckham Jr. wanting to go to a team that has an interim head coach and an up and down QB. Then again, He’s so used to up and down QB’s such as Eli Manning and Baker Mayfield, so that may not be such a big issue for him.

New Orleans Saints (5-3, 2nd in NFC South)

The Saints have lost star WR Michael Thomas for the rest of the season due to injury. They have also lost their starting QB for the rest of the season. The team is almost in panic mode, but they keep winning games. Marquez Callaway and Deonte Harris have been catching the ball just fine for the Saints but I strongly doubt either one of them would say no to bringing in a player of Beckham Jr’s caliber.

This would rely on Beckham Jr being content with going to a run heavy team with a QB who may not be so keen on throwing the ball 40-45 times a game.

San Francisco 49ers (3-5, 4th in NFC West)

The last in the NFC West 49ers are desperate for some sort of WR consistency beyond breakout star Deebo Samuel. George Kittle can’t seem to stay healthy this season. Samuel has more receptions (49) and yards (882) than the rest of the 49ers WR’s put together all season (41, 479). He also has the same amount of touchdowns as the rest of his squad mates.

The would rely on Beckham Jr. understanding realizing that there is a good chance that the NFC West Champions is probably already long gone with the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams at the top of the division. I would also look for him to want an answer to the QB controversy that has been going on. Is it Jimmy Garoppolo or Trey Lance? Pick one and lets go. It shouldn’t be Jimmy at this point though.

Seattle Seahawks (3-5, 3rd in NFC West)

The Seahawks seem like a no brainer here. They are in the situation they are in largely in part to QB Russell Wilson’s injury that caused him to miss three games. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are both studs at WR and Beckham Jr. would be am amazing compliment to the two of them. Rusell Wilson comes back this weekend and he’s ready to go. A wild card is not out of the question for Seattle and they are very likely to move into position to snag it.

The would rely on Beckham Jr. understanding that he probably won’t be the top target on most plays. He may not get the ball as much as he would like to in this offense and system.

New England Patriots (5-4, 2nd in AFC East)

Mac Jones still has trouble connecting on deep shots down the field. Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor are great at catching a short pass and running the distance. The Patriots have heavily relied on Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith to catch the deep passes downfield. reports have also stated that Bill Belichick and the Patriots have “mutual interest” with Beckham Jr. in regards to joining the team.

This would rely on the report of mutual interest being accurate. Another big issue would be on if Beckham Jr. would want to go to a team with a Rookie QB knowing he wants a deep run at the playoffs. He would have to trust that the Patriots are the team who can take a Rookie for a ride in the playoffs.

One thing is for sure, Odell Beckham Jr’s top 5 landing spots will not be his only suitors. In fact, Odell Beckham Jr’s top 5 landing spots may not even be the team he lands with. Anything is possible with this man.
