Longtime UFC vet Nick Diaz was arrested Friday afternoon on multiple charges of domestic battery by strangulation, a felony and first degree battery according to online records.
The Las Vegas police department did not confirm the arrest in a statement, but according to MMAfighting.com, they were able to confirm it independently. Diaz is currently being held at Clark County Detention Center on $18,000 bail.
This is a terrible look for Nick, as wide-spread rumors were circulating about his return to the cage later this year. Diaz has not fought since fighting Anderson Silva at UFC 183. He also had a whereabouts suspension from USADA that ended last month, allowing him to return to action.
The arrest came late Thursday night when police were dispatched to a Las Vegas residence, claiming they had probable cause to make an arrest. Diaz is scheduled to make his first appearance in court Saturday morning.
