New York Jets Sign WR Corey Davis To A Three Year Deal

The 2020 AFC East last place team make the first big move of Free Agency this year as the New York Jets sign WR Corey Davis. The contract is for three years, $37.5 million. The Jets are coming off a 2-14 season that got them the second pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Davis was drafted by the Tennessee Titans with the 5th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. They decided last year that they did not want to offer him a fifth year option.

Davis finished the 2020 season with 65 receptions for 984 yards and 5 touchdowns. He would have led the Jets in receptions and yards had he been signed one year earlier. Jamison Crowder led the Jets with 59 receptions and 699 yards. Davis will instantly fall into the WR1 role as the Jets start to revamp their offense. Davis may not be the only WR that the Jets make an attempt to sign this off-season.

Going into this offseason the Jets have plenty of holes that needed to be filled. Signing Corey Davis fills the first hole in their team. They are still a long way away from where they need to be to compete. There are still question marks on who will be throwing him the ball. Sam Darnold is still on roster however they are heavily linked to drafting a QB with that second overall pick as well.

Step one off the New York Jets Off-season to do list: Jets Sign WR. Done.
