New England Improve To 5-6 After Win vs. Arizona

New England started the game with the ball on offense, yet lost possession soon after thanks to a Cam Newton interception to Markus Golden. Arizona took advantage of the takeaway, resulting in a 1-yard touchdown run by Kenyan Drake to give the Cardinals a 7-0 lead.

After the touchdown, Arizona wasted no time forcing New England to punt the ball and increasing the lead to 10-0 after a 47-yard field goal by Zane Gonzalez. After the field goal, New England ended the first quarter with the football trying, and failing, to get on the board. After the first quarter, Arizona led 10-0.

During the second quarter, New England started where they left off at the end of the first quarter, and ended up getting on the board thanks to a 7-yard touchdown run by James White to make it a 10-7 lead. The rest of the second quarter consisted of both Arizona and New England stopping the other team from scoring and making big plays on defense. At the end of the second quarter, Arizona led 10-7.

It was all New England during the third quarter. After Arizona punted on the first drive of the half, New England took advantage of the opportunity and tied up the game at 10 after a 22-yard field goal from Nick Folk. After the field goal, Arizona took the field in an attempt to take the lead but it led to a turnover after Kyler Murray threw an interception to Adrian Phillips. After the interception, New England took their first lead of the game on a 1-yard touchdown run from James White to take a 17-10 lead. Arizona ended the quarter with the ball. At the end of the 3rd quarter, New England led 17-10.

Arizona was on offense for the majority of the fourth quarter, and ended their first drive by tying up the game at 17 on a 1-yard touchdown run by Kenyan Drake. With 8 minutes left in the game, New England had an opportunity to take the lead late in the game. Unfortunately for New England, it ended in another turnover after Cam Newton threw an interception to Dre Kirkpatrick.

Arizona tried to capitalize on what New England couldn’t and take the lead late in the game. Although Arizona had momentum on their side, that all changed for the worse after Zane Gonzalez missed a 45-yard field goal. New England then received possession and it resulted in Nick Folk hitting a 50-yard game-winning field goal as time expired to give New England the win 20-17.

For New England, Cam Newton threw for 84 yards, 2 interceptions while completing 9 out of his 18 passes. On the ground, Newton ran for 46 yards, on 9 carries.

On the Arizona side of things, Kyler Murray threw for 170 yards, 1 interception, while completing 23 out of his 34 passes on the day. On the ground, Murray ran for 31 yards on 5 carries.

After winning against Arizona, New England is heading to SoFi Stadium to play the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Los Angeles is coming off a 27-17 loss against the Buffalo Bills.

After losing against New England, Arizona will be playing the Los Angeles Rams at State Farm Stadium. Los Angeles is coming off a 23-20 loss against the San Francisco 49ers.
