Nationals Send Pitching Prospect Packing

The Washington Nationals have decided to dismiss one of their top pitching prospects, Seth Romero, after he violated team policy. The policy, however, was separate from that of any MLB guidelines in place.

Romero was drafted by the Nationals in 2017 with the 25th pick in the first round. He signed with the club on July 7th.

The 21-year-old is no stranger to breaking policy, as he was suspended during the first two weeks of the 2017 season for conduct that was “detrimental” to the team. The Houston Chronicle later reported of the initial suspension having relation to drugs, and Romero failing a drug test. In May of 2017 the University of Houston dismissed Romero from the team for breaking policy once again. The University did not disclose which policy was violated.
