More History For Russ

In his final years at OKC, All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook racked up accolades almost as quickly as he pulled in rebounds and fished out assists. In the 2016-2017 season, his first without Kevin Durant who departed for Golden State that summer, he became the first player since Oscar Robertson to average a triple double for an entire season. He also broke the Big O’s record for triple doubles in a single season with 42.

He didn’t stop there. He now has three consecutive seasons averaging a triple double, all while scoring 50 points on occasion or dropping a 20-20-20 game. Now he’s on the cusp of yet another record.

Westbrook has recorded a triple double against every team in the league except for one, OKC, the team he has spent his entire career with until now. He now has a chance to triple double against literally every team in the league. He will have his first chance Monday night in Texas and another opportunity on January 9th when he makes his return to Oklahoma for the first time as a Houston Rocket.
