Monty Williams Hired as Phoenix Suns Head Coach

The Phoenix Suns have come to an agreement with Monty Williams and have announced him as their next Head Coach. After just one disappointing season with Igor Kokoskov, the Suns are hoping Williams will be able to turn around the direction of the team, who have missed the playoffs for 9 years straight.

Williams was formerly Head Coach in New Orleans from 2010-2015 and is currently an assistant with the Philadelphia 76ers. He will take over the Suns when the 76ers end their playoff run. They are currently tied 2-2 in the second round with the Toronto Raptors.

In what was the second-worst record in franchise history and second-worst record of the NBA this season, at 19-63, The Suns will have a high draft pick this year. This, accompanied by Williams’ background in both coaching and playing, could be a solid starting point for restructuring the team.
