The next team that we here at GCSN tackle is the NL powerhouse Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2019, the Dodgers finished with the best record in the National League at 106-56, and the second best record in the entire Major Leagues, finishing just one game behind the Houston cheat….I mean Astros (Unbiased New Yorker here). The Dodgers went into the NLDS heavy favorites by mostly everybody in baseball, but going up against the eventual World Series Champion Washington Nationals would prove heavy for LA. The Nats’ took the Dodgers to 5 games, and following some extra inning heroics by way of a grand slam by Howie Kendrick, the Dodgers season was done.
Going into the year 2020, trade rumors surrounding Red Sox star outfielder Mookie Betts picked up steam, and fast. On February 10th, 2020, Betts along with veteran pitcher David Price were shipped to Los Angeles, and the Dodgers team that won 106 games the year before got even more dangerous. Besides Betts, the Dodgers have the young 24 year old absolute tank in Cody Bellinger, left fielder Joc Pederson, 3B (and fellow ginger) Justin Turner, and short stop Corey Seager. But it’s the pitching staff of the Dodgers that catches my attention. 8-time All-Star Clayton Kershaw, the young and extremely promising Walker Buehler, the even younger Julio Urias, and one of the best closers in the game Kenley Jansen.
So with a star studded lineup, a very promising rotation, and a bullpen anchored by Kenley Jansen, let’s see how the Los Angeles Dodgers do in our MLB The Show 20 yearly simulation.

End of Season Warp-Up
And there we have it! Our first simulation where our team actually wins the World Series! What a season it was for the Dodgers. Mookie Betts really paid off (who ever thought different though) in the sim batting .309 with 35 home runs. Corey Seager and Justin Turner both hit over .300, and Cody Bellinger hit just under, at .296 but hit 31 bombs and 102 RBIs.
The pitching staff was phenomenal, with Clayton Kershaw winning both the NL MVP and NL Cy Young awards for the second time in his career! Just look at the league leaders sections. Kershaw had TEN shutouts and 13 complete games. Just insane even for a simulation. Walker Buehler was great with 17 wins and a 2.67 ERA, and Julio Urias pitched very well with a 2.90 ERA. The veteran David Price got injured early on in the year with a head fracture, which shut his season down, opening the door for the 28 year-old Cuban native Yaisel Sierra.
I’m not entirely sure how the Twins made it this far in the simulation, but they did split the first two games with the Dodgers, before LA took games 3, 4, and 5. In the 5 games, the Dodgers outscored the Twins 27-14. Joc Pederson took home the Postseason MVP award, hitting .387 in the 17 games. A.J. Pollock won the World Series MVP after getting one hit in one plate appearance…so there’s that.
