Minnesota Vikings: Cook Cleared for Team Activities

The Minnesota Vikings had some good news on Tuesday. Running back Dalvin Cook was deemed ready to participate in team activities. Although he was wearing a brace, Cook was excited. He explains why coming back from a severe injury is so hard:

It’s definitely different, you go out there and rehab, and you try to get your body back in shape. But you think you’re in shape until you go take four reps back-to-back, and then you’re like, man, it’s a different type of shape you need to get in. Just getting back out there and just getting that feeling back out. Just to get your body back out there, I got to still take those steps. It’s a long process. I’ve got a long way to go. Just got to keep working. – Dalvin Cook

Cook tore his ACL eight months ago in a week 4 contest against the Detroit Lions.

Prior to the injury, Cook was playing very well. In four games during his rookie season, Cook had 74 carries, 354 yards (4.8 ypc), two touchdowns, and 90 yards receiving on 11 receptions.

The Vikings took home the NFC North title and made it to the NFC Championship game before losing to the eventual Superbowl champions, The Philadelphia Eagles 38-7. The fact that the Vikings made such a deep run into the playoffs with running backs like Jerick McKinnon and Latavius Murray, speaks volume as to what the team can accomplish with a healthy Dalvin Cook.
