Milwaukee Bucks Win At Houston: Recap

Milwaukee Bucks Win At Houston: Recap

What a great opening night for these two teams! The Houston Rockets started out the night at a fast pace, holding the lead all the way until the fourth. The addition of Russell Westbrook has pushed the team’s pace up a notch. Harden’s ISO ball and Westbrook’s breakaways have opened up room and energy for the team’s defensive players. The Milwaukee Bucks seemed to be prepared for Harden, however. By guarding him from behind, Harden wasn’t able to use his famous step back to score. This led to an uncharacteristically low scoring night for the former MVP, with just 19 points.

Seeing Westbrook and Harden together was magic. Their ability to make plays for their teammates and share the ball was just fun to watch. Westbrook was just 3 assists short from another triple double. There were other standout players in tonight’s game, such as Danuel House, Ben McClemore and Tyson Chandler. Overall, the Rockets looked like a whole new team. Their rebounding and defense clearly improved over the summer. Unfortunately, it seems like they still suffer from losing leads late in the game.

In the fourth quarter, a nearly fouled out Giannis Antetokounmpo went on a scoring streak, gaining the Bucks first lead of the night. The current MVP earned another triple double tonight with 30 points, 11 assistsand 13 rebounds. With just 5 minutes left in the game, Giannis earned his sixth foul and had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines. Brook Lopez took the lead and managed to keep the Rockets scoring at bay. Along with Lopez, a force to be reckoned with (literally) was Ersan Ilyasova who proved that he was the best at drawing charges tonight, planting his feet at just the right time.

The Bucks won 117-111. If last night’s games and tonight’s games were any indication of how this season is going to be, we’re all in for a wild ride.
