Miami Heats Up In 4th Quarter For Opening Night Win

The Miami Heat hosted the Memphis Grizzlies for their home opener Wednesday night and got off to a rough start. They committed 10 turnovers and 7 fouls in the first quarter alone, and allowed the Grizzlies to shoot 57% from the field.

Derrick Jones Jr. opened the second quarter with a monster jam to get the Heat back into the game. It was back and forth for the next two quarters with the score at 84-83 to start the 4th. The Heat then pulled away out-scoring Memphis 36-18 in the final period for a 120-101 victory.

Jimmy Butler did not play due to personal reasons.

Tyler Herro made his rookie debut for the Heat as the youngest player to ever start for Miami. He contributed 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Miami was led in scoring by Justice Winslow, entering his fifth season in the league, who dropped in 27 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

Memphis was led by Jaren Jackson Jr. who had 17 points. Ja Morant, the number 2 overall pick in this year’s draft, scored 14 along with 4 assists but also had 4 fouls and 6 turnovers.
