Miami big man Meyers Leonard will be part of a trade package with the Oklahoma City Thunder along with Miami’s 2027 second round pick. The deal will bring over veteran wing Trevor Ariza, whose experience and leadership should help the Heat in their late season push.
Leonard fell into hot water after using an anti-Semitic slur on a Twitch stream. He is expected to waive his no-trade clause to facilitate the trade for the Heat, but the Thunder currently have no plans of retaining Leonard in their long-term plans.
A shoulder injury will keep Leonard on the sidelines for the rest of the season. He only played in three contests for the Heat this season in his second year with the team. Leonard has a team option on his contract for next season which the Thunder will likely decline if he is not dealt elsewhere.
