McAvoy Update

Bruins Defenseman Charlie McAvoy has been suspended one game by the NHL Department of Player Safety for his hit to the head on Columbus’ Josh Anderson.

The hit occurred in Game 6 of the Second Round during the second period.

McAvoy was assessed a minor on the play, which luckily did not lead to a power play goal by the Blue Jackets in their 3-0 shut out loss.

This is McAvoy’s first offense which may result in the NHL being lenient, however with the increasing concerns of head hits, the NHL has certainly taken a stricter stand in handing out suspensions for hits like these.

With the Second Round concluding with Game 7 between the San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche tomorrow night at 9:00 PM ET, we can expect the Eastern Conference Finals between Boston and Carolina to begin later this week.

The 21 year old Defenseman has a goal, and five assists in thirteen games this playoffs, along with a plus-minus of plus-eight.
