Matches To Make After UFC 224

Amanda Nunes vs Cris Cyborg: this is the super fight for all of women’s MMA. Cyborg called Amanda out at UFC 222, and Amanda said she was into the idea. After that she began to talk about Ketlen Vieira. Nobody wants that fight. Both women have all but cleaned out their respective weight classes. Now it’s time to throw down in the first ever Women’s Super Fight. Nunes needs to fight Cyborg in July or August. That’s all we want to see.

Kelvin Gastelum vs David Branch: Kelvin is in a weird spot right now, he just beat the #2 guy in Jacare. The #3 contender is moving up to 205lbs. Chris Weidman who is #4 just beat Kelvin. Michael Bisping is basically retired and holds the #6 ranking. Derek Brunson is sitting at #7, but is coming off a K.O loss to Jacare. That leaves #8 David Branch. To me that’s the fight that Kelvin needs, one more top ranked win to get the title shot.

Mackenzie Dern vs Nadia Kassem/Yan Xiaonan Winner: Mackenzie Dern had possibly the best showing at UFC 224. She dropped and then tapped Amanda Cooper inside the first round. Although she missed weight by 7 pounds, she has vowed that’s a one off and won’t happen again. Nadia Kassem is an up and coming fighter like Dern. As for Xiaonan she is also a younger fighter on the rise. Both promising challenges for the ascending Dern.

John Lineker vs Jimmie Rivera/Marlon Moraes Winner: since moving up to 135lbs, John Lineker has beaten everyone except the champ TJ Dillashaw. After knocking out the unranked Brian Kelleher last Saturday, Lineker needs a real test. Rivera and Moraes are set to clash in June. After that Lineker should get the winner. He has a history with Rivera and if it’s Moraes that fight will be a barn burner.

Lyoto Machida vs Uriah Hall: Machida was able to turn the clock back with a stunning, highlight reel front kick K.O of Vitor Belfort Saturday night. Now riding a 2-right win streak after a devastating loss, Machida is right back in the thick of the middleweight division. Uriah Hall was last seen in the Octagon scoring an impressive comeback K.O victory over Krzysztof Jotko in late 2017. This fight could elevate either man back into the top 10 of the middleweight division.
