Larry Fitzgerald Returns For 2019 Season

The Arizona Cardinals announced Wednesday morning that their legendary WR Larry Fitzgerald has signed a 1-year contract with the team to come back for his 16th season.

Despite the new changes in coaching staff and the struggles of the team, “Larry Legend” will be playing at the age of 36. He will help with introducing new Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury to the Cardinals organization and he will also be a huge factor in QB Josh Rosen’s development in his second season.

Fitzgerald’s stats took a hit last season only posting 69 receptions for 734 yards and just six touchdowns. Last season’s dip cost him his streak of three consecutive seasons of 100 catches and 1,000 yards just after becoming the oldest player to record 100 catches in 2017. Still, he is unquestionably this team’s leader and the offense will surely have some stability with the veteran signing a new contract. We will soon see how he fits in Kingsbury’s new offense and what kind of role on the field he will have next season.

The Cardinals finished 3-13 last season and have the first overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. Improvements must be made, but Fitzgerald staying for another year is great to hear for this Cardinals organization and fans alike!
