Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets has only played 20 games this season due to both a shoulder injury and later a knee injury. Initially, surgery was recommended for the shoulder injury, but Irving decided to get a shot of cortisone instead. It is unclear what caused Irving to re-aggravate the injury, but it is now looking like surgery will most likely be the next step. The Nets and Irving will probably take some time over the course of the next few weeks to decide on his path of recovery.
Without Irving, the Nets have managed to stay at seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. If a surgery does happen, it’s likely that we won’t see Irving again this season. Next season will be a whole new team, as both Irving and Kevin Durant will be returning healthy.
