Kreider to Stay in New York

Forward Chris Kreider, and the New York Rangers have agreed to a contract extension just ahead of the trade deadline.

The Rangers and Kreider have agreed to a seven year contract extension, averaging $6.5-million per year.

In his ninth season in the NHL, Kreider has 45 points in 60 games played, and has hit the 50 point mark twice in his career; not bad for being on one of the worst teams the past few years as New York has been in the process of severely rebuilding.

Retaining Kreider is instrumental for the Rangers to continue their forward progress as New York currently sits four points outside a Wild Card Spot, and have gone 8-2-0 in their last ten games, winning three consecutive games.
