Klopp signs extension lasting until 2024

Earlier today, Liverpool FC manager Jürgen Klopp signed a new long-term contract set to run until the end of the 2023-24 season. The 52-year-old German has facilitated Liverpool’s remarkable return to prominence both in England and in Europe through his savvy business dealings and unmatched energy on and off the pitch.

Klopp told the folks over at Liveproolfc.com that the decision to add a few more years to his contract was a no-brainer. “This club is in such a good place, I couldn’t contemplate leaving.”

“For anyone in football who aspires to compete in an environment where every element of the organization is at it’s very best…from the support of the supporters to the vision of the owners…there can be no better place than this.”

The former Borussia Dortmund gaffer first moved to Merseyside back in October 2015 following the club’s firing of Brendan Rodgers. In four short seasons with the Reds, Klopp nurtured the club back up to heights it hadn’t seen in a generation. The amiable German brought in club cornerstones like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, and Sadio Mane while also giving chances to young players and constant loan castaways like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, and Divock Origi.

Perhaps most importantly, Klopp has also brought hope and optimism back to the red side of Liverpool. Ever since his first full season in charge (2016-17), Klopp has led his club to four consecutive top-four finishes in the Premier League. And last year, Klopp and Liverpool sported the best record for any team to not win the Prem in history with an impressive 30-7-1 record.

Liverpool’s prospects outside of England have been no different as Klopp quickly helped the mighty Reds become a power on the European continent as well. He reached the final of the 2015-16 Europa League, losing to Sevilla, and then competed in back-to-back Champions League finals, losing first to Real Madrid in 2018 and winning the second against Tottenham back in June this year.

With all this success wherever they play, it’s not surprising that the owners of Liverpool over at Fenway Sports Group were keen to continue working with Klopp. In a joint statement, John Henry, Tom Werner, and Mike Gordon expressed that they believe their manager is the best working today adding simply that “If Liverpool Football Club were looking to appoint the most outstanding, elite manager for our current status today, Jürgen would be the first choice – no question.”

In conjunction with this contract news, Klopp also won the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award for November after leading the club to a 4-0-0 record.
