Kaulig Racing, who currently fields two full time cars in the Xfinity Series, intends on running a partial Cup Series schedule in 2021 in preparation for a potential full season in 2022.
With the debut of the Next Gen car set for 2022, Kaulig will look to get a jump on their full season debut, as the team intends to enter all super speedway and road course races in 2021. Kaulig Racing team president Chris Rice stated to Autoweek that, “We have to race on Sundays to know what that’s like. I don’t believe it’s a simple as getting to the new car and immediately being competitive and racing for top-10s.”
The team enters 2021 with a new driver for their No. 10 Chevrolet Camaro as Ross Chastain moves to the Cup Series full time driving for Chip Ganassi Racing. Jeb Burton will pilot the No. 10, while Justin Haley will drive the No. 11 next season. AJ Allmendinger will most likely return to pilot the No. 16 on a part time basis in 2021 as well.
