Ottawa Senator’s Defenseman Erik Karlsson returned to the lineup last night after missing a couple games due to the tragic loss of his son.
Karlsson and his wife, Melinda, were expecting a son in mid-April, however due to pregnancy complications last week the couple sadly lost their son.
Upon returning Karlsson received a standing ovation before the game against the Hurricanes, where Karlsson was clearly emotional.
The Senators however, were not able to get a win, as they fell to Carolina 5-2.
Karlsson was able to record an assist in the loss.
