John Gotti III Returns Home At CES MMA 46

The grandson of the legendary New York gangster, John Gotti III is set to have his second pro MMA bout on May 4th in Westbury, on Long Island. He will be fighting a man named Eddie Haws, who has an 0-1 pro record. This is will be somewhat of a homecoming for Gotti, as he fights in New York for the first time ever as a pro.

In his first pro fight, John Gotti III won by first round submission due to strikes over Johnny Adams. There is an incredible amount of hype surrounding Gotti, not only because of his namesake, but his skills in the cage as well. It is very rare in today’s MMA game to see a submission due to strikes. The only fighters I know who have done it are Frank Shamrock, Brock Lesnar and Luke Rockhold.

Those three men are also former UFC champions respectively. Can John Gotti III rise through the regional scene into the UFC? Only time will tell. Having that notorious name is also a huge grab for any promotion.

Anyone who thinks he’s just using his name as a “money grab”… STOP! He has a 5-1 amateur MMA record, and has dedicated his life to body building and MMA. He fights at Welterweight(170lbs), and in my opinion has the skills to be a big name in this game.

If Gotti can stay focused on his MMA goals, dedicates himself to MMA, and also prepares for all the controversy and attention that will come his way the more he succeeds, then I see him being a UFC-caliber fighter, blasting through Haws and TKO’s him in the first round, making John Gotti III 2-0 in pro MMA.
