Jevon Holland Scouting Report

Jevon Holland Scouting Report

  • Position: Safety
  • School: Oregon
  • Class: Junior
  • Height: 6’1″
  • Weight: 182 lbs

Jevon Holland was a 4-star recruit coming out of Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland, California. He had offers from schools such as Washington, Illinois, Notre Dame and Oregon. He decided to attend Oregon and took over free safety duties as a true freshman. In two season with the Ducks he recorded 108 tackles, 9 interceptions and 10 pass break-ups. His best season came in 2019 where he recorded 66 tackles, 4 interceptions and 4 pass break-ups. Holland opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns and began to prepare for the 2021 NFL draft.

Size: 4

Holland has great height and length for the next level. He could stand to put on another 5-10 pounds just to help him in run defending.

Speed/Burst: 3

He lacks elite straight line speed, he’s not going to hawk anyone down from behind. Holland relies more on his incredible instincts to put himself in position to make plays.

Fluidity/Agility: 5

Holland has some of the most fluid hips in the class. His ability to flip his hips and get on his horse without any hesitation is incredible. This characteristic is easily his best athletic trait.

Range/Versatility: 5

As a freshman, he played center field for the Ducks and worked from the slot in 2019. He did both at a high level. Holland could start in the slot for any team from day one.

Football IQ: 5

Holland demonstrates extremely high football IQ. He commands the back end of the defense getting guys into position and adjusts himself to audibles and motions with ease.

Tackling: 4

He’s not an absolute killer at the point of attack, which means he’s not a guy that’s going to make the crowd go “Oooooo”. However, his flows to his run fits nicely and brings down the ball carrier.

Ball Skills: 5

9 interceptions and 10 pass break-ups in two seasons, what else do I have to say?

Health: 4

He suffered a leg injury in 2019 against Colorado that caused him to leave the game. Didn’t seem to be anything serious, but something to take into mind.

Score: 35/40

Jevon Holland was a guy that was really hurt by opting out of the 2020 season. He was being mocked in the first half of the first round before the season began. While he doesn’t possess unreal athleticism, he is a solid athlete. Where he excels at is his extremely high football IQ and versatility. He’s a high floor player and a guy I wouldn’t let slip past me in the second round.
